| Making
a career work for you
At Securian, we believe the best way to promote our Company's success
is to encourage the success of each associate. That's why – through
every stage of the career process – we take a collaborative approach
that includes mutual selection, a policy of promotion from within and
a commitment to professional development.
An interactive selection process
Our selection process is unique: it's more deliberate and comprehensive
than most other companies. The process is also viewed as a forum for job
candidates to learn about the Company. That's because we don't consider
the hiring process a one-way street. We invite our job candidates to evaluate
us with the same care and precision that we use to evaluate them. We want
to provide you with all the information needed to decide if Securian is
a good fit for you. Choosing to become a Securian associate is a significant
decision. And, if done carefully, may even be the last career decision
you ever need to make.
Opportunities throughout, promotion from within
When a position at the Company becomes available, it's our policy to look
inside first. In fact, we fill approximately 80 percent of our openings
with internal candidates. But that's not to say there aren't opportunities
for those not currently employed with Securian. We are always looking
for qualified individuals and invite you to check out our
job openings and apply online.
A career built through growth
Computerworld continually ranks us in the top 100 best places
to work in Information Technologies (IT) based in large part to our IT
and corporate training programs. Year in and year out, a high percentage
of associates and supervisors participate in the Company's training programs.
Securian also offers an on-site Training
and Development department, with in-house training. All Securian associates
are offered individual classes to meet specific needs and groups of classes
to develop broad skill sets. In addition, tuition assistance is available
for approved college courses and funding is offered for the successful
completion of courses in industry-related educational programs appropriate
to an associate's current job and future development. The Company pays
100 percent of exam fees and study materials for most of these courses.
